Christ Church Swanland
Christ Church by the Pond, Swanland

CHRIST CHURCH SWANLAND is a partnership between the United Reformed and Methodist Churches although people from other denominations can be found in the congregation. The two churches came together in 1981 using the United Reformed Church building. We currently have a Methodist Minister, Rev Shirlyn Toppin, who we share with Tower Hill and North Ferriby Methodist Churches.

The Church is located by the pond in the centre of the village of Swanland in the East Riding of Yorkshire. There has been worship on the site since 1693 but the present church building dates from 1803. Various modifications and alterations have taken place over the years.

On Sunday we have a Morning Worship at 10.30am. Communion is celebrated on one Sunday morning each month and a Family Service (ie all-age worship) usually takes place on the first Sunday. At this service our youth band provides the music. Most months there is an Evening Service at 6.30pm although this can be a joint service with other churches in a nearby village. See the Church notice board or speak to one of the Church contacts to confirm the dates and locations.

We hold a prayer meeting at 9.30am on the second Sunday of each month prior to morning worship.

On Saturday mornings from 10am to 12noon we serve coffee in the Vestry providing an opportunity for people from both inside and outside the Church, to get together. The Church is a FAIRTRADE CHURCH and Fairtrade food & drink products are sold once a month at the the Saturday Coffee Mornings (see the Special Other Events page for the dates) and after the Family Service.

Details of special Sunday Services or other activities are shown on the Special Worship Services and Other Events pages. Full information of all Church activities can be obtained by getting in touch with one of the people on the Contacts page. A warm welcome awaits all who come to our Church. There is plenty of free parking in front of the building and nearby.

Church rooms are available for hire by all residents of Swanland and the surrounding area. They are available between the hours of 9am and 11.30pm Monday to Saturday inclusive. The facilities may be used for educational purposes, community service projects, social events and meeting of local clubs and societies. Contact the Caretaker if you wish to hire a room.

OUR MISSION IS TO WORSHIP, WITNESS AND WORK WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY AS A FELLOWSHIP OF GOD'S PEOPLE.
