East Yorkshire Woodturners started life in 1997 and membership has grown to some 65 turners from Hull and the East Riding. Our aims are to promote and develop interest and expertise in the art and craft of woodturning and related subjects, and to provide support and encouragement to woodturning enthusiasts.
We meet at Skidby village hall on the third Tuesday of every month at 7pm prompt. Visitors - whether raw beginners, experts, or anyone who is simply curious to know more about the hobby, are most welcome. No need to book – just turn up!
Meetings consist of professional guest demonstrators of national and international renown, and a monthly competition on various turning topics. Several members have competed in regional and national competitions with much success.
We also arrange occasional trips to tool manufacturers and timber suppliers outside the immediate area, and to National Exhibitions.
In September 2008 in recognition of our efforts to keep the enjoyable craft of woodturning alive in Hull and East Yorkshire, the Club succeeded in gaining Lottery funding of £3,200 from Awards For All, for much needed equipment.
