Welcome to the Website of the Traditional Catholic Orthodox Church.
The Traditional Catholic Orthodox Church is an Independent and autocephalous Catholic denomination based firmly in the Old Catholic Tradition. The church was founded by act of Concordat in 1968 By Archbishops +Aelred Peter I (Terence Coghlan Distin), +Donald Garner & + (John) Patrick Nicholas Collins. The Founding Document of this Church is the original statement of Principles, Faith, Doctrine and Discipline issued on January 1, 1910 by Archbishop Timotheus (Rene Joseph Vilatte) with the approval of Bishops Stephen (Kaminski) and Paul (Miraglis). Originally the Church was known as the Old Catholic Church in Great Britain However adopted the current name in 2008 following the re-structuring in mission and return to more traditional worship.
The TCOC meets regularly for worship in the Oratory of St. George’s based in King’s Lynn. The Liturgy is Resolutely Traditional using the Tridentine Rite in the Vernacular. Whilst currently the TCOC is growing, we aim to reach out to those who for whatever reason can no longer affiliate with mainstream denominations and wish to return to the Tridentine Liturgy. We endeavour to establish other Communities within the TCOC throughout the UK and internationally in the future.
