Our volunteers work within wards, clinics and departments and all sorts of people join us. We have over 450 volunteers within the Trust and you could join us.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life and are aged from 17 and above. While many of our volunteers are retired, we have an increasing number of younger volunteers who are using voluntary work to gain experience of the NHS in order to study medicine, nursing or many of the other careers on offer. We also have volunteers who undertake clerical work and are able to improve their skills and increase their chances of finding employment.
We are able to place volunteers in many differing areas of the hospitals, including our wards, out patient departments, clinics and as‘ Meeters and Greeters’
Our main aims are to support services in priority areas and to help increase the involvement of volunteer in under developed service areas. Because of the diversity of our volunteer placements we have a variety of tasks which volunteers can undertake, but all of them are in a supporting role which enhances the quality of our service as a whole.
