Hessle Model Railway Group

The Hessle Model Railway Group began life in 1990 and brought together nine model makers from Hessle and the surrounding area. The Group found a home at the nearby school but over the years the school was modernised and the Group found itself homeless for a while.
Hessle Town Council came to the rescue and provided rented rooms in the Town Hall. Since then the Group has flourished and is currently building two model railway layouts.
Hessle is an N gauge (2mm to the foot) scale recreation of Hessle station as it was in the 1950/60 period,i.e before the Clive Sullivan Way and modernisation. This layout is in its final phase of construction with the detailing of the surrounding area taking place.
The second layout features Battersby Station in the Esk Valley and is combined with an industrial cement silo complex which in reality was in Manchester!.This layout is built in OO gauge (4mm to the foot). Battersby North End,as it is called, is close to completion and will be on display at the November 08 Hull model railway show.
Fully Digital Command Control (DCC) controlled and with diesel locos fitted with 'sound chips',the layout is bang up to date with the latest in the railway hobby technology..

Railway Group seeking new members
|

The Hessle Model Railway Group is looking for new members. The Group meets every Wednesday evening at Hessle Town Hall(side entrance) between 7pm and 10pm.
The Groups Hon Secretary,Alan Smith said "We are nearing completion of one of our layouts and are about to start designing and building another.This is a exciting opportunity for model makers of any ability to join us"
